A Silkworm’sThoughts
Cocoon is beautiful A spring silkworm
How to bite through that window ?
Once with a deep thought Thinking himself as a moth dashing at a lamp
The burning thin wings, as if Stripping of thousand petals of clouds Falling from the colors of light Awakes Dante's dream
Then startlingly He realizes that himself, is still a silkworm Not yet to change

Note : A note on Dante’s dream of the Eagle (purg.ix) in The temple classic edition reminds one that in the Medieval Bestiaries the eagle is said to fly up in His old age into the cirele of fire, where he burns Off his feathers and fall blind into a fountain Whence he issues with his youth renewed. |
