A DARK HORSE

Not a single hair
is unbecoming
No particle of dust
clings to its polished eyes

If not for the glistening nose

and the rousing mane

you probably cannot tell

that it has just run all the way

from the depth

of a midnight dream

Pas un seul poil
Ne jure,
Aucun grain de poussière
Ne s'accroche à ses yeux luisants

Si ce n'était son museau brillant
Et sa crinière flottante
Nul ne saurait dire
Qu'il vient de parcourir tout le chemin
Depuis les profondeurs
D'un rêve de minuit
