ABOUT SUSHI
By Yuzhong
The somewhat tasty rice wishes To lift up the life of the fish So that the sense of freshness would give The poetry a gift The wasabi bitterly heads down The salty life of the soy sauce dipped Hastily getting into the troubled-watery nose And telling the moving story Of the spicy bit The Gari (pickled ginger) sweetly changes into Another taste that clears out the tongue’s tips Something about SUSHI The green tea and Saki slips out of the mouth One says that SUSHI is Peony The other says that red wine is SUSHI But for the man who sits next to them He says they are all but the life That tastes sour, sweet, bitter, and spicy This can be chewed Into poetry
